Meet our Leadership Team

ALAN ZHU

Alan is a dedicated coach with a passion for teaching precise and effective swimming techniques. He has many accolades to his name including many high school, collegiate and club swimming medals and records. During his time at Brooklyn Technical HS, Alan was the MVP and co-captain of the swim team and a key member of the PSAL all-star team for 3 years--his two high school records can still be seen on the walls today. In college, Alan swam for the Binghamton University men's swim team and during that time he was also an assistant swim coach for the LaGuardia Aquatics Club, in Queens, NY. He was a prominent swimmer in the New York and has been known for his many achievements and wins, including his stellar performance at the Empire State Games, Sectionals, and New York State Championships. He has also taught and coached an Olympic qualifier and a National Age Group record holder. He has over 10 years of coaching and teaching experience. He was the Queens College Men's Head Swim Coach for four years. During his four year at division 2 Queens College, his swimmers broke multiple school records and they placed top 10 in the Metropolitan Swimming Conference. Currently, Coach Alan is a DOE high school physical education teacher and the Millennium HS Girls and Boys varsity head swim coach. 

Annie Zhu

Annie is a passionate coach who understands the importance of a fun and safe environment for kids to learn to swim. She blends her background in Early Elementary Education and her seventeen year experience in competitive swimming to teach effective stroke techniques. Over her seventeen year career, she received many accolades in high school, college, and USA Swimming. Annie was awarded a four year athletic scholarship to attend the University of Georgia where she participated in NCAAs with her team. Throughout her four years, UGA won three National Team Championships. She has also participated in three Olympic Trials (2008, 2012, and 2016) and has been ranked nationally throughout her career. She is a distinguished member in the USA Swimming community, representing the National Team and National Junior Teams for years. She held multiple National Age Group records and still holds National Age Group records today. Aside from coaching, Annie also manages Swim Safe New York’s social media channels.

LINDA ZHU

Linda is a former Canton province (China) team swimmer who specialized in the breaststroke and a former member of the LaGuardia Aquatic Club coaching staff. She has taught numerous swimmers who qualified for the Junior Olympics, Eastern Zones, Senior Metropolitan, and Speedo Sectional Qualifiers and Junior Nationals. She has over 30 years of coaching and teaching experience.

KENNY ZHU

Kenny is also a former Canton province team swimmer who specialized in breaststroke and a former member of the LaGuardia Aquatic Club coaching staff. He, like Linda and Alan, has taught numerous swimmers who qualified for the Junior Olympics, Eastern Zones, Senior Metropolitan, and Speedo Sectional Qualifiers and Junior Nationals. He has over 30 years of coaching and teaching experience.
